Motion Music Festival 2010 Line Up Featuring...

FRANKIE BONES
From Wikipedia: Frankie Bones is an American techno and house music disc jockey from New York City. He is best known for bringing the rave culture to the United States after playing at a hangar party in the UK during 1989. Frankie Bones, the first American DJ to play these raves, is considered to be 'The Godfather of American Rave Culture'.
He got his first inspiration from his father's vast record collection after his father was murdered. Later on, after he had begun producing records, he was offered a gig to play for 5,000 people in England called "Energy" on the strength of his compositions. As the event started on August 26, 1989, the projected attendance had gone through the roof and Frankie played to 25,000 people while the sun came up. At this event, a fight broke out and Frankie got on a speaker, screaming at the fighters, "If you don't start showing some peace, love, and unity, I'll break your fucking faces". With the subsequent discussion of this event on the Usenet newsgroup alt.rave, Respect was added to the three virtues Frankie was speaking of, creating the hippie-esque raver credo of PLUR: Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect.
Being profoundly moved by the experience, he brought it back to Brooklyn in the form of his series of Storm Raves. The Storm Raves events began with only a few hundred people in attendance growing to over 5,000 where the likes of Josh Wink, Doc Martin, Sven Vath, DJ Keoki and Richie Hawtin were able to launch their performances into international careers. The Berlin Love Parade, which is generally considered to be the largest rave in the world, named its 1991 and 1992 Parades after well-known compositions by Frankie Bones.

From Discogs: Frankie Bones was the original and first DJ coming out of the Brooklyn Underground during the mid 80's with the vision of what was yet to come on the global front of Electronic Dance Music culture. His early mission came in the many releases of Fourth Floor Records and Nugroove Records. In a time when timing meant everything, the buzz of his early works caught the attention of the rapidly growing scenesters in the London Orbital M25 raves during the Summer Of Love in 1988.
Those early "Bonesbreaks" vinyls led Frankie to playing at a rave called "Energy" which had 25,000 people. With the scene already reaching critical mass, Bones had set off a fierce bidding war between XL Recordings and Deconstruction, which led to two albums by Musto & Bones.
The U.K. was very impressed by Frankie's unique Brooklyn style which was a raw-freestylish-bass-in-your-bass-bins-but-electro-bass style that was raw enough to keep the entire scene and industry at bay, waiting for the underground to bubble over. With gigs, remixing and production work pouring in by the truckload, Frankie ventured out into the early European scene playing key breaking parties in France, Holland, Italy, Denmark and Germany. Each country taking note of his style and wanting to license music.
From all the success in Europe, a booking would follow in Los Angeles based strictly on his success in Europe. In fact the L.A. promoters did not understand where the Brooklyn accent was coming from? But the West Coast scene had just started and Frankie held down Bi-Monthly events in London, L.A. and in NYC.
His vision of STORMrave made history. As did the Sonic Groove shop where he sold vinyl to the masses.

DJ NU-MARK
For well over ten years, DJ Nu-Mark has been among Hip-Hop's most respected DJs and producers. Recognized for his membership in the gold selling group Jurassic 5, Nu-Mark is best known for his production on the raw anthem “What's Golden” and the smooth and soulful “Work It Out,” featuring Dave Matthews. Additionally, his innovative DJ routines and creative on-stage antics have made him a favorite of crowds all over the world.
Perhaps best known for their thrilling stage show, Jurassic 5 has toured the globe several times over, and have made numerous television appearances. With Jurassic 5, Nu-Mark has performed at many of the world's most important and exciting music festivals - Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza 2003, Australia's Big Day Out, The UK's Reading Festival, and Japan's Summer Sonic - where his mastery of a complex, six-piece DJ rig and his playful incorporation of children's musical toys have amazed and delighted crowds of up to 50,000 fans. Jurassic 5 has appeared alongside many of music's greats, including A Tribe Called Quest, the Wu-Tang Clan, Outkast, The Roots, Run DMC, Green Day, and even Bruce Springsteen.
Nu-Mark is responsible for half of the production of Jurassic 5's entire body of work: Jurassic 5 EP (1997), Quality Control (2000), Power In Numbers (2002), and Feedback (2006). He has also released his own projects, independent of the group: Blend Crafters, an instrumental album created in the spirit of allowing beats to speak for themselves, and Hands On, a mix-CD. Hands On assembles a diverse and eclectic set of sounds, everything from soulful breaks to comedic skits, as well as classic underground jams, and includes a special section devoted to hip-hop from around the world. By turns hilarious and impressive, this project displays both Nu-Mark's eccentric sense of humor and his devotion to solid, simply dope music. Currently, Nu-Mark is placing his beats on a number of projects in a variety of genres.
Nu-Mark began DJing as a teenager in Los Angeles. Over the course of the last two decades, he has amassed a collection of over 35,000 records and refined his technical skills and performance style to the point where he is widely recognized as one of the key figures in the late-90s DJ explosion which pushed the DJ to the front of the culture's awareness. As a result of this distinction, Nu-Mark has been featured in a diversity of publications and in several films: the critically acclaimed documentary “Scratch,” “KeepinTime” (which features impromptu collaborations with Mad Lib, Cut-Chemist, Babu, J-Rocc, and drummers James Gatson and Paul Humphrey), “Coachella: The Movie,” and “Rock the Bells - The Documentary.”
Today, Nu-Mark is well-known for his innovative plays on sound - attaching a rubber band to his turntable's needle and playing it like an upright bass or tapping on the turntable's dust cover to simulate a bass drum. Incorporating a wide range of musical styles - soul, funk, hip-hop, and samba effortlessly blended together - Nu-Mark revels in surprising an audience with a forgotten gem, an unknown banger, or a fresh take on a well-known hit. From Sao Paolo to Sydney, from Toronto to Tokyo, Nu-Mark's carefully crafted, explosively energetic DJ sets never fail to get a party rocking.

6BLOCC aka R.A.W.
R.A.W. aka 6BLOCC is known for his relentless techniques behind the wheels of steel. Getting his start back in 1985, this dj is no amateur when it comes to tuntablizm. He was already battling local djs in Los Angeles before the modern dj culture was even created. In 1988 he made his move into the hip hop game with 2 vinyl releases under the name PROJECT X which featured Brooklyn MC, SILKSKI. He went on to film a music video for one of the releases which aired on local L.A. music video shows. That same year he joined the legendary L.A. hiphop radio station, KDAY and spun live broadcasts along with other Angelino djs called HIGH ENERGY MIXMASTERS. During this time, he entered many dj battles including showdowns with Joe Cooley, Tony A. and JRocc. This experience has led to the legend we now see on the decks.
In 1991 the sounds of UK hardcore / jungle were creeping onto the shelves of dance shops in L.A. and R.A.W. was quick to spin and represent. With help from Dj Dan, R.A.W. began playing at major raves and underground events throughout the west coast. His sound at the time was a blend of jungle, hiphop, turntablizm and hardcore sounds which made him an instant draw in the underground scene. By 1994 R.A.W. alongside Dj Curious and Dj Trance (Jason Blakemore) started L.A.'s first jungle weekly called....JUNGLE! Located at a dirty abandoned train station known as the Belmont Tunnel (Predator II was filmed here as well), the weekly gathering was the only place on the westcoast to hear the dark sounds of reinforced and suburban base records. The venue was kept dark with only one laser to keep the junglist listening and falling deeper into the music.
By the mid-90's R.A.W. was traveling all over the world rocking crowds with his signature sound of urban jungle choonz and b-boy turntable tactics. In 1997, R.A.W. would go on to win the West L.A. Music Dj Battle judged by Dj Quik. "I remember Quick jumping like crazy when I was rocking doubles of J Magik's 'Your Sound'", says R.A.W. Shortly after this he was hired by a Japanese sound design company to produce 2 sample cd's: DRUM AND BASS AMMO and HIP HOP AMMO; both were sold with the Roland SP-808 in Japan. Also around this time he began to release his jungle productions on labels like Warner Bros., Thrive, Priority, Mictlan, Tonz of Drumz, N2O and by 2000 on labels like Thermal, Vortex, Sound Sphere where the sound was getting faster and rougher. His single on Sound Sphere was a masterpiece created with E-Sassin at the Sound Sphere studios. Together they weaved an intricate tale of twisted breaks and evil winds over a relentless bassline that would pound the listener every 16 counts. "That song still wrecks shop everytime I play it out..and of course I have to rock doubles!"
Other R.A.W. classics still rock dancefloors worldwide like - Passin Me By Remix, Klash, Jah Rise, Ragga 2001 (which brought the stateside ragga-jungle sound to the masses), Mathematical Chemistry and Monkey Business..just to name a few! His discography has reached over 50 vinyl releases and a plethora of mixtape / mix-cd releases that sell out throughout the year!
In 2006, while working on some drum and bass material R.A.W. heard a bassline coming from the nextdoor studio and asked, "what or who is this?" It was a mix by Youngsta from the UK, "the sound spoke to me and said follow me...and I did". R.A.W. continues, "I felt like I was ready to change my style and move onto a new sound...dubstep was exactly what I needed at the time. Drum and bass reached a point where I no longer felt like it was me and it was also getting too fast and void of the funk."
By 2007 R.A.W reinvents himself as 6BLOCC and is releasing his new sound on labels like Lo Dubs, N2O, Tribe Steppaz UK, Bootshake UK, La Dubstep Nostra and the popular white label War Recordings. In 2008, Portland bass music label, Lo Dubs calls upon the 6BLOCC to rock a mix cd featuring the Lo Dubs roster. A blend of hypnotic textures and warped basslines from the future cut the f*ck up using Cubase SX3, 6blocc says, "I decided to use Cubase to give it a different feel than the usual mix-cd and to add my own samples and edits." The result is ANALOG CLASH, the first CD compilation / mix that features dubstep music from the Americas (north and south) as well as a remix from Vex'd. So far it has sold over 3000 units within months of the release date! When he isn't on the road or in the air flying to various clubs and events throught out the U.S.  6BLOCC is managing his digi-label DIGITAL 6 (available on www.beatport.com - www.digital-tunes.net - www.addictech.com) and knocking out dubstep remixes and originals. The word on the streets is 6BLOCC is looking to put out some white labels of his hottest dubplates that always get the call...PUULLLL UUUPPPPP!!!! If you're wondering what the name 6BLOCC means? "I got the name from a Masta Ace song where he says, "the bass I create is heard from six blocks". BOOM!
